Making Sense of Me Spring Retreat

Date & Time: 27 - 30 October 2022

Venue: The Island, Sedgefield

Theme: Making sense of me: an exploration of my Enneagram type

Cost:  R2 900 - R4 290 per person, all inclusive (3 nights' accommodation, Enneagram assessment, 4-day programme, meals, soft drinks, snacks, and sessions)

About this weekend:

Our theme for the weekend is Making sense of me. There is nothing more important in life than to understand ourselves, because how we see the world determines everything. There is no reality out there, separate from us. We see it all through our own perspective. If we’re unaware, we respond automatically, in ways that often don’t serve us. If we have insight into our patterns, blind spots, wounds and motivation, then we have choice.

The Enneagram is a map to show us how we get stuck in our personalities, and how we can become free to choose our responses to life. You’ll be guided to see which type you resonate with most. These types will be explored in more detail, and during the course of the weekend, we’ll discuss different aspects of how you show up in the world, why, and where your freedom lies.

Information is provided in a group setting, alternated by individual exercises to process and apply the knowledge to your own life. The beauty of learning about Enneagram types in a group setting is that you'll gain compassion not only for yourself, but also for those around you, seeing how we all respond to the world in the best way we know...until we know better.

Our setting is The Island, on the outskirts of Sedgefield. Sedgefield is a lovely seaside village that is entirely surrounded by lakes and sand dunes covered in fynbos. It lies in the heart of what is known as South Africa's Lakes District and is well known for its pristine beaches. Sedgefield is located between Knysna and George along the beautiful Garden Route.

We provide early morning coffee/tea, rusks and fruit; a scrumptious brunch, and dinner.  We cater for vegetarians and meat-eaters, sourcing only free range meat and eggs. Gluten-free and dairy-free diets are available at a small extra charge, but unfortunately vegan diets are not catered for. Vegans are welcome to bring their own food supplements.

This retreat is for you if...

  • You want to explore what the Enneagram is about
  • You want to understand why you feel and act the way you do
  • You want to feel more compassion for yourself and others
  • You want to improve your relationships
  • You feel stuck in some areas in your life
  • You want to be more happy and free
  • You want a meaningful break from everyday life
  • You want to feed body and soul surrounded by nature.

What's included:

Everything is catered for from the moment you arrive on Thursday, until you depart on Sunday. You only need to bring your own clothes. Coffee and rusks, fruit, brunches and dinners are provided, plus snacks, drinks, and facilitated sessions and activities. There is a cash bar for alcoholic drinks. Also included is a pre-weekend online check-in session with Hilde, to discuss the Enneagram assessment results, as well as a comprehensive personalised Enneagram report.

This is a weekend of intense exploration! The schedule is quite full, because there is much ground to cover in a short time. On this weekend, you’ll learn, discover, and forge new bonds.

During the weekend, you can expect the following:

Group information sessions

Me-time contemplative sessions

Hiking / walking

Group feedback and discussions.

Most of the sessions will be in a group setting, while exercises are mostly individual (alone-time).

Arrival is from 13h00 - 14h00 on Thursday, 27 October. Finishing time is Sunday at 12 noon. During the weekend, there won't be time in-between sessions to go off on your own, so do plan your trip with that extra day or two if you want to spend more time in the area.

Accommodation is in an upmarket, contemporary home with beatiful lagoon views. The house is airy with plenty of space for me-time. Even if you share a bedroom, you'll find ample space to be completely on your own. You can choose one of several room types. Prices are per person for all 3 nights / 4 days, all inclusive.
